Countertop Mixology: Our Nations’ Birthdays
Operating branches in both Canada and the US, we’re lucky enough to get to celebrate both Canada Day and The Fourth of July this weekend! Both are right around the corner and we’re getting into party mode. What better way to show off your patriotic side then to celebrate with your fellow countrymen. Here are some of our favorite cocktails to show off your national pride!
Canada Day: July 1st
THE 67 SOUR
Ingredients
1 tbsp frozen (thawed) blueberries
0.5 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
3 oz Molson Canadian 67
Basil Sprig to garnish
Directions
To a highball glass filled with ice, add blueberries, lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup.
Top with Molson Canadian 67 and garnish with basil sprig.
CLASSIC CAESAR
Ingredients
Celery salt or Mott’s Clamato Rimmer
1 oz vodka
2 dashes hot sauce
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3 grinds fresh cracked salt and pepper
4 oz Mott’s Clamato Cocktail
Celery stalk and lime wedge garnish
Directions
Rim a highball glass with citrus and rimmer. Fill the glass to the top with ice. Add the ingredients in the order listed. Stir well to mix the cocktail, and garnish.
Independence Day: July 4th
RED, WHITE & BLUE SANGRIA
Ingredients
Strawberries, quartered
Blueberries
Pineapple, cut into stars
2 bottles of white wine
1 cup triple sec
1/2 cup berry flavored vodka
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup simple syrup
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, stir, chill and serve!
FIREWORKS PINA COLADA
Ingredients
6 oz frozen strawberries
2 tbs white rum
2 cup crushed ice
1/2 c coconut cream
1/2 c Blue Curaçao
1/2 c crushed pineapple
1/4 c white rum
Whipped cream or coconut cream, optional
Directions
Heat a small saucepan over medium heat and add frozen strawberries. Cook, stirring, until defrosted and somewhat liquid. Add 2 tbs white rum and blend with a hand-blender or transfer to a blender and puree. Divide between 2 glasses.
Clean out the blender if it was used for the strawberries and add crushed ice, coconut cream, blue curaçao, pineapple and remaining rum. Blend until combined. Slowly pour into the glasses.
Top with whipped cream or coconut cream, if desired.
